It needs air!

This is how de-thatching or lawn aeration works...

The right tools and hard labour get the job done!

After de-thatching the lawn looks very thin but wait for it...

in a few weeks after de-thatching, top dressing and over seeding your lawn is a dream lawn.

I need air, you need air, your lawn needs air too.

A healthy lawn is a living system which needs oxygen, water, light and nutrients to thrive and stay beautiful all year round. When a thick layer of felt or thatch forms between the soil and the grass blades, the exchange of oxygen, water and moisture is reduced and the grass suffers. An easy way to check whether you have a thatch problem is to scratch with your fingers between the grass and try to expose the soil. Can’t get to it unless you need to rip off the felt layer? Houston we have a problem!!

Moisture retention gives all sorts of headaches, making diseases appear faster (rust is just one of them) and the lawn have a thinner, lighter more yellow colour.

With our professional grade de-thatching machine Marina, the layer of felt is removed and the surface of the soil scarified so that the correct evaporation and oxygenation is restored.

Furthermore, removing thatch build up will reduce the amount of water per square metre needed as it will seep immediately deeper into the soil without all that layer of felt to go through first.

In the photos and videos you can see how much felt and dead grass and leaves are removed by the machine. Then it’s a matter of a good raking action and collection everything with our ride on mower. Once this is done the lawn is left very bare but this is only the start. Now it’s the perfect moment to top dress and over seed your lawn with fresh topsoil, lawn seeds and fertiliser. In a few weeks you won’t believe your eyes.

The proof is in the pudding, some say. We’d rather say, the proof is in the lawn!
